I'm down at Exeter Livestock Centre today fo Beef South West and as well a a good turnout of trade stands there has been a strong exhibit of commerical show cattle.

The overall championship went to Poker Face, a Limousin cross British Blue heifer, from Michael and Melanie Alford and shown by the their daughter Charlotte.

This heifer was champion calf at last year's English Winter Fair, the Welsh Winter Fair and reserve at AgriLive Smithfield. This summer the heifer took commercial champion titles at Devon County, Bath and West and the Royal Cornwall and will head to a number of the Winter Fairs this year.

In reserve was a British Blue cross steer, Magic Man, from Elfyn Williams, Sennybridge. Shown by Neil Lloyd, this steer will next head to the Welsh Winter Fair. For a full report and pictures see next week's paper.

Standing reserve was Poker Face, owned by Charlotte Alford, Devon, who weighed 548kg. She was bought at Caledonian Marts in the autumn and was champion at the English and Welsh Winter Fairs and reserve champion at the Scottish Winter Fair and Smithfield as a calf, before taking the commercial championship at Devon County last week.
